NM Highway 44

FNF’s largest project is the $97 million, 50-mile reconstruction project for New Mexico Department of Transportation and consisted of the expansion of the roadway between Cuba and Nageezi, New Mexico, from two to four lanes. This 20-year warranty project was the longest and largest contract on the 118-mile corridor of Highway 44.
The project included two million cubic yards of excavation and borrow needed to construct the two additional lanes for the 50-mile project. FNF also reconstructed three bridges along the alignment and lime-treated the subgrade, used 600,000 tons of milled asphalt for base course, and crushed, mixed, and layed one million tons of end-product asphaltic concrete.
FNF’s traffic control plan was selected for use on the entire corridor saving time and money on this project. This project was at an elevation of 7,000 feet at the Continental Divide and was completed, in November 2001, start to finish in 22 months.
