FNF Project Receives PPP Innovation Award

April 22, 2010

news_pppaward.jpgIn late 2009, The National Council for Public-Private Partnerships (NCPPP) awarded the Yuma Proving Ground Enhanced Use Lease Project for the U.S. Army Enhanced Use Leasing Program and General Motors Corporation (GM) for the development of a 2,400+ acre area with a world class hot weather vehicle test complex, including multiple test tracks. GM moved from their previous Mesa location when property values increased on their land. Yuma has proven to be a good fit for GM and leasing the land has provided the Army with new access to road systems that they did not have until this project was complete.

FNF recently completed the paving and grading operations on the GM Southwest Proving Ground Improvements project as a key subcontractor to Turner's Construction Manager at Risk contract with General Motors. FNF was chosen for our ability to adhere to the strict quality control requirements and maintain a tight schedule while building a vehicle testing facility. Mass grading, rip rap, soil cement, aggregate base, drainage, and asphalt paving were the major items of work in FNF's contract. The project was completed within the schedule in June 2009 and is currently operational.

Public?Private Partnerships provide many options to finance and build new and improved facilities. The NCPPP works to educate the infrastructure industry and implement a "best practices" approach to these partnerships. Members of the NCPPP include those from both the public and private sector and also industry members, all working together towards a common goal of providing productive and cost?effective public services.
