Low Bid
The following represent FNF's recent low bid projects:
ADOT Hwy 93 (Hoover Dam): FNF provided General Contractor services to build 15 miles of a 2-lane roadway parallel to the existing 2-lane roadway. The work also included milling existing asphaltic concrete pavement, construction of new asphaltic concrete pavement, new box culverts, installation of pipe culverts, embankment curb, downdrains, spillways, guardrail and fence, mainline bridge widening, construction of two new mainline bridge, and 3 wildlife overpass bridges, signing, and striping.
ADOT Yuma Area Service Highway (SR 195) Avenue B to County 14th Street: The project was located in Yuma County, between mileposts 9.1 and 24.0 on the new State Route 195. The work consisted of constructing a new 4-lane, divided roadway with two new concrete bridges and other incidental work. This project not only contained overall costs, but came in under budget as a direct result of the partnering process. ADOT was very pleased with the final cost of the project.
After FNF was awarded the contract for this project, the FNF team proposed a value engineering option to change the visual screen at County 19th Street from metal to concrete that would result in a significant cost savings to the project owner. The proposal was approved and provided a win-win for all stakeholders. With these financial times, any savings are favorable and can go a long way towards building more infrastructure, so these funds went to very good use for the State of Arizona.
The finished roadway of this project is of exceptional quality, and in fact has been deemed the smoothest ride in Arizona as evidenced in the International Roughness Index (IRI) values. The data is collected by a profilometer which calculates the IRI value (shown in units of inches/mile). IRI values range from 0 (which would be similar to driving on a plate of glass) all the way up to several hundred inches/mile (which would be a very rough road). The average IRI value given to the roadway was 20.57; well below the 39-43 range that was desired in the specifications. Values higher than 43 inches/mile are still accepted by the Project Owner; however, the contractor would have a monetary disincentive for these values. Values 86 inches/mile and higher would result in a reject by the Owner.
